We Don t Grow When Things Are Easy - 954 Words

Joyce Meyer once said, â€Å"We don t grow when things are easy, we grow when we face challenges.† I grew up in a small town called Hope Bay in Portland, Jamaica. Life was never easy when I was a child, and I was never told to expect anything big in life. No one around me ever mentioned anything about college. College was just seen as one of those places for smart rich people, and I was told I did not fall into either category. My mother migrated to England when I was eight years old, and I had to live with Paulet my cousin, who was also my guardian. I grew up moving from one home to another, escaping the danger of a sexual immoral man, to being accepted in college and walking with God. To begin, four months after my mom migrated, she stopped paying my tuition, so I stopped from school. When I became eleven years old, my mom sister Kadian came and took me to Kingston to live with my grandmother. Life was a rollercoaster; I did not have a birth certificate and I had to go back to Portland in a different guardianship. In Portland, I got into Hope Bay All Age School and was under the guardianship of Cefered and his wife Mercle. Cerefed was my granduncle, but he wanted me to lose contact with the rest of my family and I was not sure why, so I refused. My grandmother became very concerned with my guardians and I ended up living with my father’s sister name Celia, but it was rough living with her.
